Greetings from Lancashire UK all!
I'm currently going through Minor swing and I'm about half way through it trying to internalize each lick/phrase.
Just a question as to how people learn these phrases for transferring to other tunes/chords - When you are learning a lick/phrase do you 'see' the root of the chord you're playing the lick around to enable you to transfer it from say, Dminor to F#minor?
For example, on one particular lick over a Dmin the starting note is a B (6th) and I'm now trying to move this around the neck looking for the 6th in relationship to the root of the chord im playing over.
Hope all that makes sense, just wasn't sure if I'm over-complicating things too soon.
It is best to tie every lick to either the root, 3d or 5th of the corresponding chord on either the low E or A string or the high E string!
