If you want a scale: minor melodic from the fifth. So on D7 (key of C) minor melodic: A B C D E F# G#

If you want an arpeggio try playing A minor major 7th: A C E G#.

The licks Stochelo plays in Gypsy Groovin on the E7 and D7 chords are very good licks for secondry dominants!
